Influenced by the lines of traditional Japanese apparel, I have taken components of the kimono and transformed them into a contemporary western garment. My design challenge was to utilize the rectangular width of the fabric in both draping and drafting pattern design methods. Th is four-piece ensemble provides a synergy between my scholarly activity and teaching responsibilities.
